The Burial Process
Registration of Death
Following a death, a medical certificate must be obtained from the GP or hospital. The death must then be registered within five days at the local Registrar’s Office. When attending the appointment, please bring:
* The medical certificate issued by the doctor
* The deceased’s medical card (if available)
* The deceased’s birth and marriage certificates (if available)
Once registration is complete, you will be issued with a Certificate of Registration of Death (Form 14) and a green form for burial or cremation. These documents should be passed to your funeral director. Please contact us, and we will guide you through the process, ensuring all required documentation is completed in line with Scottish Government regulations.
